18 Dec HoD Profile: Janine Kewming
Meet Janine Kewming, Head of Fundraising
What does the role of Head of Fundraising entail?
My primary role is to raise funds through our campaigns like the Red Shield Appeal, to support the mission, while meeting the expectations and needs of our supporters.
What has brought you to the Army?
I’ve been in the non-for-profit sector for 11ish years, and was with World Vision previously. I’ve always had a keen awareness of how integral the Army is to supporting the Australian community, and one of the key reasons I joined was because of my Christian faith.
Christmas is coming up, is this one of your busiest times?
The Red Shield Appeal and Christmas are our biggest campaigns and we’ve got some really exciting things happening. We’ve partnered with Coca-Cola this Christmas who donated $500,000 to our ‘It Feels Good to Give’ campaign.
What’s your perfect weekend?
It would have to be by the water, maybe at the beach. Spending time with my husband and kids, relaxing with a movie, cooking dinner, taking the time to catch up and unwind.
What are you most looking forward to in the Australia Territory?
Working as a unified team; breaking down silos and working collaboratively are some of the things I’m excited to see put into action.
Is there anything you’d like to say to Salvos at this time?
The hard work starts now and there are a lot of big decisions to be made, but I see a lot of positivity and excitement to what the future will bring.
We need to remember, particularly for our supporters, to be good stewards and good leaders, and to hold ourselves accountable. At this time, we should remember our ability to reflect grace and give each other grace and understanding.
