Australia One Workstream Update

Legal, Governance & Policy

The Legal, Governance & Policy workstream is one of six streams within the Australia One Program, with one of its objectives being to carry out the development of the Australia Territory Governance Model detail design, and establish and execute a transition plan leading to the implementation of the Governance Model.

As indicated in the 7 August 2017 Australia One Program Update a review of the existing inventory of AUE and AUS governance forums (governing boards and committees) was recently completed.

As the Governance workstream prepares to enter the Transition Planning phase, work has commenced on the development of Terms of Reference for new governance forums and planning the transition and consolidation of the existing AUE and AUS forums by mapping to new forums within the National Governance Model.

Mission Delivery Operating Model

The detailed design phase of the Mission Delivery Operating Model has now commenced, with three meetings of the Mission Delivery Working Group now having taken place. Some of the work completed by the group includes developing the approach, criteria and scenarios for the Mission Delivery Proof of Concept, as well as running focus group sessions at THQ Redfern, Wagga Wagga, THQ Blackburn, State Social Command and Brisbane.

The Mission Delivery Working Group is now focusing on a draft design of the Mission Delivery Operating Model, and defining the nature, scope and key interactions of the various key roles in the Operating Model, such as Area Officer, Chaplain, Corps Officers and Social Centre Managers, as well as the Mission Department and Business Support functions, in preparation for the Proof of Concepts to commence in Wagga Wagga and Brisbane in September.

Introducing Our Leaders – Lt. Col. Lyn Edge

With the National Cabinet now in place and recruitment of some of the National Heads of Department underway, we’d like to create an opportunity for everyone to get to know the leaders of our National Movement through a regular “Introducing our Leaders” section in the weekly Australia One Program Update.

This week we would like to introduce Lt. Col. Lyn Edge, National Cabinet Secretary for Mission.

If The Salvation Army believes that marriage should be between a MAN and a WOMAN, then I think that we should be directing our soldiery to vote in this way, not taking a back seat to this issue.

    HI,

I am interested in this comment “The Mission Delivery Working Group is now focusing on a draft design of the Mission Delivery Operating Model, and defining the nature, scope and key interactions of the various key roles in the Operating Model, such as Area Officer, Chaplain, Corps Officers and Social Centre Managers, as well as the Mission Department and Business Support functions, in preparation for the Proof of Concepts to commence in Wagga Wagga and Brisbane in September.”
As AUS Territorial Chaplaincy Coordinator I am interested that nobody has as much as approached me or any of those I relate to in senior chaplaincy roles about chaplains in the new structure. This disappoints me. We have worked from 2012 research to address issues identified as crucial for the effectiveness and longevity of chaplains in ministry. I must expect that you are aware of this and it has been considered in the process. While we want to embrace the new it is important that we don’t dismiss lessons learned from the past.

You mentioned that the legal, governance & policy stream is one of 6 workstreams under A1. Are you able to remind us what the other 5 streams are?
